The QHY5-III 290 Mono uses a SONY STARVIS Exmor R back illuminated CMOS sensor. The Starvis sensor allows you to “see” very dim stars in real time video. The QHY5-III 290 can capture mag 9 stars when connected to a 50mm F1.4 C-mount lens. Compared with the IMX236 sensor it has twice the sensitivity to visible light and more than three times in the near infrared.
QHY5-III 290 has ultra low readout noise too. Back llumination and low readout noise make this camera an ideal video astronomy camera. The 2.9um small pixel size is also ideal for planetary imaging.
QHY5-III 290 uses a USB3.0 super speed interface capable of 180FPS at full HD output . The camera has a 10/12bit ADC and can output 8bit or 12bit images.
