The QHY5-III 290C uses a SONY STARVIS Exmor R back illuminated CMOS sensor. The Starvis sensor means you can see very dim stars in real time video. QHY5-III 290 C can capture mag 9 stars when used with a 50mmF1.4 C-mount lens. To compare with the IMX236 sensor , it has twice the sensitivity for visible light and three or more times in near infrared wavelengths.
QHY5-III 290C has ultra low readout noise also. The back llumination and low readout noise make this camera an ideal video astronomy camera. The 2.9um small pixel size is also idea for planetary imaging.
QHY5-III 290C has USB3.0 high speed interface and can output 180FPS at full HD output . The camera has a 10/12bit ADC and outputs an 8 or 12 bit image.
